  The Grace Music Institute provides children and adults the opportunity to develop musical ability and appreciation. Individual sessions led by competent musicians introduce the aspiring musician to the instrument of their choice. The intent of the Institute is to increase exposure to musical instruments, augment fun and enjoyment in the learning process and promote participation and involvement in music performance.
The Instructors are accomplished youthful musicians willing to teach children, teens and adults
Individual instruction is available to children and adults in the following areas:
  • Introduction to musical instruments
  • Beginner to Advanced-Level instruction 
  • Establishing good practice techniques and habits
  • Practice Sessions and Coaching for Recitals
  • Music Theory 
30 to 60 minutes sessions depending on experience. Advance Registration Required        Weekdays after School! Saturday Sessions too! Other times by appointment Personal Instrument required; Piano is provided. Scholarship Assistance available. Please ask

Ryan Sheng  - Musical Director, Piano Teacher
 
 
RYAN SHENG - Piano Teacher 
 
Ryan Sheng started learning to play the piano at age 5 and soon began to perform internationally in competitions and festivals.
 
Most recently, he was invited to participate in 2019 Van Cliburn Junior International Piano Competition Festival and PianoTexas Young Artist Program with full scholarship. As the winner of the concerto competition in PianoTexas, he performed Mozart Concerto No. 21 with Fortworth Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Miguel Harth-Bedoya. 
 
In 2017 he was invited to perform a solo recital at Brussels Music Festival ( http://www.brusselspianofestival.com ) in Belgium. He was the youngest pianist who was ever invited to the festival. He was one of the 24 contestants of 2016 Gina Bachauer International Competition and a prize winner of many local and international competitions.
 
Some prizes he has won include 3rd prize of Virgina Waring International Piano Competition Intermediate category; 2nd prize, Audience Award and Young Jury Award at 2019 Emory piano competition; 1st prize and the special prize of Best Performance of Bence Kutrik Introverted Confessions at the 10th Rosario Marciano International Competition in 2018 in Vienna; 1st prize of 2018 Pacific Music Competition; 2nd prize at 2018 International White Night Festival Piano Competition in Russia, 1st prize at 2014 Schlern International Competition Young Musician Category in Italy and many 1st prizes of US Open Music Competition. He has been invited by audition to perform in the 2010, 2015 and 2018 Junior Bach Festival. In the summer of 2017 and 2019, he won 1st prize in North Coast International Piano Festival Competition, earning him performances in Carnegie Hall for 2017 and 2018 and 2019 winner's concerts.
 
 Ryan Sheng is a founding member of the Evergreen Ensemble. He teaches piano voluntarily at Grace Music Institute since 2013. Besides playing piano, Ryan enjoys reading, playing basketball and playing oboe. He is currently the oboist in the Evergreen Valley High School Wind Ensemble and Musician in Residence at Grace Church of Evergreen.
 
STELLA HE - Piano Teacher
Stella has been playing piano for about nine to ten years now. Since she was six, she has competed in various music competitions and festivals and has won numerous awards, such as multiple top awards in the United States Open Music Competition, third place in the Marian Felice Youth Piano Competition, performed in the Bay Area Music Festivals, and more. Aside from that, she has taken music tests and recently passed the CM Test Advanced Level with Merit. Stella enjoys working with students of all ages. She looks forward to teaching students who are interested in piano!
 
SERENA ZHANG - Piano Teacher

Serena has been playing piano for about 9 to 10 years, and throughout this musical journey, she has gained in-depth knowledge of music theory and a talent at promoting creative expression. Her passion with music can be seen through her extensive collection of accolades and accomplishments. She has attended USOMC (United States Open Music Competitions) since 2012, winning numerous awards, including four first places, two of which she received in the January 2016 USOMC. She was also awarded first and second place at the 2015 USOMC in Oakland, CA. Besides the latter, She has also participated and gained awards in the San Jose International Piano Competition, Marian Filice Youth Competition, as well as the Bay Area Music Legacy Competition. However, most importantly, she is a certified instructor, as she has successfully passed both the Certificate of Merit Piano Theory Level 10 and the ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) Level 5 Theory Exams. She skill sets include an extensive performance background, comprehensive knowledge in harmony and music theory, and perfect pitch.

Serena's objective is to become a teacher or tutor for students who are engaged or interested in learning music, especially in the fields of piano and music theory. She has considerable experience collaborating with a diverse range of students and parents, and accepts all those who are willing or eager to learn. Overall, she is a patient, focused, friendly, and encouraging teacher.
